Well this post may actually be shorter than what I previously wrote. I accidentally deleted my post right before publishing Grrrr…
But anyway I wanted to share with all of you something about me. Something that looms on the second floor of my home. No it’s not haunted, although it is a historic home, so it could be, although I’ve never noticed anything. But climb the stairs to the second floor and you’ll see the scariest room in our house… My office. It’s a crazy place. Oh yea I can make it look nicey nice when company comes. I can cram crap into the closet or shove stuff into drawers lickety split. But seriously who wants to live like that. This room as been on “my honey do list” since we moved into our home 7 years ago. Over the years it has been a make shift guest room, a playroom, a crafting/design studio, holiday wrapping center and a dumping ground of all things that can’t seem to find a home. It’s literally a black hole, my tiny piece of chaos. Wikipedia defines the term black hole a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing can escape after having fallen past the event horizon. Hence my office!
But funny enough I can find what ever is needed in a snap! So why am I telling you this? Well it’s two-fold. 1. I’d like to know I’m not alone in having this “secret”. (Come on you all know you have a place like this… that corner, closet or room that is for lack of a good term- gross, uninviting). 2. I am hoping that by putting this out to the masses it will motivate me to actually do it! Take the bull by the horns so to speak. Make me accountable. Designing a space is overwhelming. For starter it’s an odd shaped room. Very small. Technically its a bedroom, because it has a closet. But the room has two doors and literally is a pass through on our “L” shaped hallway. I have been looking at other blogs for inspiration. These decorating divas have some serious ideas! I’m not sure how they do it, or find the time. But I’m willing to put my best paint brush forward and give it a whirl. So here’s what I find inspiring.
Jone’s Design Company…. she hand painted the stencil on her walls.

Pink and the Polka Dot…she did an amazing job transforming this ordinary folding table! Quick, low cost- yea!

or this oversized print, made from an old letter, by The Little Green Notebook. AWESOME!

And then there’s this…

- It’s not pretty!
Wow! So there you have it. My little black hole. A small oasis of chaos admist my Main Street home. Nothing like the pic’s above that’s for sure. But I want to change that! So I’m vowing to do this. I will create an artful, peaceful and functional space. I will update you as I progress. If you have suggestions or just want to let me know that you too have a little secret chaotic space- I’d love to hear about it!
and P.S. to my hubby who is a blog subscriber…let’s get crackin! (love U)
